Rathdrum girl in the running for top design award

A design student from Rathdrum has reached the semi-final of the Young Designer section of the Vodafone DIT Fashion Show 2014.

Rosin Lawrence, who studies design at Griffith College Dublin, will see her work feature in the country’s largest student design competition which takes place at Smock Alley, Dublin on Tuesday, March 25.

Rosin is one 16 shortlisted student designers for the semi-final and if she is successful she will progress to the 2014 Vodafone DIT Fashion Show in Vicar Street, Dublin on Thursday, April 3.

The competition is now in its 11th year and offers a top cash prize of €2,500, while the 50 student models involved go head-to-head to win a prestigious modelling contract with top agency 1st Option.

The judging panel consists of top Irish stylist Maria Fusco, broadcaster Brendan Courtney, fashion editor at the Weekend Magazine Bairbre Power, former DIT student and creator of the event Lou Conlon and designer/previous winner of the Vodafone student designer competition Umit Kutluk

Tickets for the show, which repeatedly gets a full house of 1,000 people, cost €20 (€15 for students) and are available from ditfashionshow.ie. The chosen charity for the show this year is the Jack & Jill Foundation.
