The volunteer crew at Wicklow RNLI featured on TV3’s Late Lunch Live programme yesterday.
Reporter Claire Solan accompanied the crew on a training exercise around Wicklow harbour where she saw first-hand the skills of the volunteers.
Coxswain Ciaran Doyle, who is a 30-year veteran of the service, talked through some of the crew’s techniques and training schedule that sees them embark at least once a week to hone their skills.
Speaking following the filming, Tommy Dover, from Wicklow RNLI said: “This was a great opportunity to highlight the work of the RNLI and our volunteers from the local community, who regularly give up their time to launch on rescue missions to help those in distress and save lives at sea.”
The show can be watched again here from the 30-minute mark.
