Bray teen enters the den to pitch to the Dragons

By: William O’Toole

Bray teenager Joshua Dargan Hayes will come face-to-face with the Dragons next Sunday night when he appears on Junior Dragons Den.

The 14-year-old student, who attends St. Gerard’s School in Bray, will be hoping to secure mentorship from a Dragon along with a bursary of €2,000 for his company Connect Shade.

Connect Shade is a product that allows you charge electronic devices using solar power. The device uses a built in solar panel that charges a mobile device via usb leads and a battery and can be retro-fitted to any sun lounger.

Dragon Gavin Duffy rarely gets excited by a pitch on the show but the Dragon was in ‘awe’ of Joshua’s product. “Joshua Dargan Hayes, a name for the future! I’m just so excited. What an idea! I’ve no questions, I’m just going to sit back in awe of you!”

Fellow Dragon Peter Casey was also suitably impressed but he also pointed out that the devices success would hinge on Joshua securing a patent for the product. The product is currently patent pending.

To find out if Joshua was successful in his bid to secure mentorship and the bursary tune into Junior Dragons Den next Sunday night June 1st on RTE One.
