Cllr Pat Kavanagh succeeds in Anti-Fluoride Motion

A motion calling on the Government to cease adding fluoride to the drinking water was passed at the final meeting of Wicklow Town Council.

The motion, proposed by Cllr Pat Kavanagh reads:

“Wicklow Town Council calls on the Minister for Environment to immediately cease fluoridation of the public water supply. Recent evidence suggests that the underlying reasons for enforcing what has been deemed a public health benefit for the common good no longer bears true, and that flouridation is extremely dangerous to health. Furthermore, it is an violation of the rights of the public to make informed choices about their own health.”

Cllr Kavanagh said: “I am delighted that this very important motion was supported, and that a very clear, direct and formal message will be sent from Wicklow to the Minister for Environment, the Government and every other Council around the country that toxins in our water will no longer be tolerated. The Government are asking us to pay for our own water, which is ultimately poisoning us and which is an assault on human rights to decide for ourselves what we want to ingest into our bodies.
