Raincoats required for the week-end

Aughrim based weather forecasters are predicting a wicked week-end

SATURDAY

An unsettled day with a mix of prolonged rainfall and isolated heavy showers. Due to the nature of these showers and associated system its difficult to offer accurate timing but some areas could see showers ease by mid to late afternoon. Very strong winds with gales gusting to 80kmh throughout coastal Munster, Connacht & SE Leinster and exposed hills.
SUNDAY
Another unsettled day with strong winds and fractured showers but some areas could remain dry for most of Sunday. A game of roulette trying to figure out where these showers will occur at 3 days out from Sunday.
NOTE: The past 10 days and present to short term forecasts have been difficult to nail due to the nature of the fractured systems approaching Ireland from the Atlantic. The latest data from several leading models continues to suggest a warming period with high pressure building at 14/16 May but we would not bet our house on it just yet with question marks over such variables as temp gradient, jet stream position and fringe low weather systems. Another couple of days of data consensus required before we even consider cleaning the BBQ.
