Wizard of Oz
Sacred Heart N.S. Aughrim presents The Wizard of Oz in the school hall there will be a matinee on Friday June 6th at 11 am. Admission children €2. There will be a night performance on Thursday and Friday June 5th and 6th.  Starting at 7 pm. Admission  charge for adults €5 and children free of charge.

13th Annual Colaiste Bhride Golf Classic
Colaiste Bhride Parents Association 13th annual golf classic takes place on Friday June 13th in the beautiful surroundings of Coollattin Golf club. This is a marvellous event each year and a very sought after golf classic to play. There are great prizes on offer. This event will give visitors a chance to play one of the finest parkland courses in South Leinster.  We look forward to meeting all our loyal supporters on the day and we thank them for their commitment to our school. We would also like to thank all the businesses who continue to support us. Funds raised go towards extracurricular activities for our students including equestrian and rugby teams, study skills seminars, concert band,  young scientist projects, foreign language exchanges to name but a few.  The cost per team is €200 including entry fee and meal. Online timesheet is now open.

Is there any of our junior or senior athletes interested in a challenge?  Run the Rock 11k challenge this Saturday June 7th (12 pm). Register at  Fun Run of 3.5k for junior runners and families

Active Retirement
Panning for Gold is on Thursday, June 19th – meet at Avoca Mills at 10.30am – if you have wellies don’t forget to bring them! Visit to Avondale House is on Tuesday, July 1st – meet in the car park at 2.30pm. The cost is €8 which includes tour of the house and tea/coffee and scones. Monday Coffee Mornings continue until the last Monday in June and will recommence in September.

Community Games
It’s been a busy week for our community games boys and girls. We had some great results.
Great afternoon at the County Wicklow Art and Handwriting competition and a big thank you to all our helpers and volunteers, to the Parents for travelling with their children and to the children for taking part and making Aughrim/Annacurra proud. Results: Handwriting U-10 Boys- 1st Padraig Stafford.  Handwriting U-10 Girls – 3rd Aoife Stafford.
Art U-8 Girls 4th – Isabelle Doyle.  Art U-12 Girls 4th – Anna Lalor
Art U-12 Boys 4th – Cian Harper.  Art U-14 Boys 3rd – Sean Linehan.  Well done to everyone who took part and Padraig Stafford now goes on to represent County Wicklow in Athlone 15th -17th August.  A lovely evening in Dunlavin at the U-14 County Wicklow Table Quiz. Our area team came 2nd overall so well done to the team of Conor Connolly, Daniel Gavin, Rory Shannon and Lauren Byrne. Congratulations to them all on a great win. !
Training next Monday as usual for preparation for Shillelagh on Saturday June 14th with registration at 9.30 am and the Parade at 10.00am. A good day to look forward to.

Run the Rock
Only eleven days to go to ‘Run the Rock 11K Challenge’.  Registration is open on and on Run Ireland website.  This fundraising event is organised by Aughrim GAA Club committee and was a great success last year with great reviews.  The trail run starts and finishes at the Brooklodge Hotel on Saturday June 7th at 12pm and is open to both runners and walkers.  The first 3K is a formidable climb to the top of Cushbawn Mountain. From here on its downhill to lap the Sean Linehan Walk and then back up to the Brooklodge Hotel finish line for well earned refreshments.  There is also a shorter 3.5K loop to cater for family and kids.  Entry: Individual €20 online, Team of four €60 online, Individual On the day €25.   Family 3.5k €10.  For any further information contact any member of Aughrim GAA Club committee.

Community Games
The County Wicklow Community Games Art – Handwriting and Model-making competition takes place in Blessington today Sunday and wishing all the local children in Aughrim and Annacurra the best of luck as they represent our area in Wicklow. Enjoy the experience.  Next Friday May 30th a team from Sacred Heart National School will represent the area in Dunlavin in the community games U-14 Table quiz, we wish them all the best.
As next Monday is a bank holiday there will be no training but Shillelagh is not too far away, Saturday June 14th for the County Wicklow Athletic Finals. A great fun day out.

The numbers: 8, 12, 15 and 27 were drawn in the Aughrim sports club lotto on Monday May 26th. Ere were no match winners. The jackpot was not won. The jackpot is €10,800.

Aughrim Town & Country Market continues every Saturday morning, from 10am to 2pm. If you have not visited before you will be pleasantly surprised, we have a butcher, some bakers, even a candlestick maker! With talented craftspeople providing woollens, jewellery, jams, preserves and prints. The Pavilion, Rednagh Road, on Saturday morning. For more information contact 0860865838.
