Caution advised as temperatures soar

With today expected to be the hottest day of the year and temperatures set to remain high for the rest of the week people are advised be careful.

Don’t forget your suntan lotion and make sure young children are not exposed to the sun for long periods, do not leave pets in the car.

Large crowds are expected at the counties beaches for the week and people are asked to be aware of where the life guards are located and swim within the designated areas.

Remember rivers have swift currents, hidden hazards and uneven deep areas. If you feel that it is dangerous then do not swim, even if your friends say that it’s okay. Seek local, expert advice. Remember that river currents are often stronger and faster than they appear at the surface.

The county Wicklow fire services are also asking people to make sure they do not light fires near forests and dry areas, smokers please make sure you dispose of your cigarettes carefully wasted cigarettes are one of the main causes for most accidental fires.
