Muck and Fun, Ireland’s largest off road shop and supplier of toys for big boys

Muck and Fun is Ireland’s largest off road shop and supplier of toys for big boys.

Founded four years ago by Alex Mahon when he was just 20 years old, Muck and Fun was born from a love of quad bikes and the great outdoors.

Based in the Wicklow Enterprise Centre, the company stocks a wide range of quad bikes, road bikes, scooters and buggies.

Muck and Fun have also branched out and now stock Airsoft rifles and Jet Skis.

The company also has a fully equipped workshop and build quad bikes from scratch, a process which can see up to six grease monkeys hammering away in their enterprise campus premises.

“When we needed more space the Enterprise Centre was there and gave us the option to double the size of our unit,” Mahon said.  “That really helped me grow my business. From 300 square foot to nearly 3200 square feet, we have expanded hugely. We are now Ireland’s number one off road shop by a long way.”

Mahon, who works alongside his Dad in the business, says his company has survived because of his commitment to customer service.

“Before I started my business there was  limited supply of quality products, nobody had a great big range and there was no shop that really cared about its customers,” he said.

“In the last few years close to 20 bike shops have closed down. It’s hard work, but having such huge range is what has enabled me to survive. We are also the only shop to offer a new one-year warrantee.”

Mahon says the company has started to receive enquiries from customers UK which he says is very exciting for his business.

Mahon is a competitive businessman and urges other entrepreneurs to stay focused on their goals.

“Concentrate on your own business and go for it. Don’t let anyone distract you from what you want to do.

“Look at your competition and ensure you are a better in every single way.”
