GAA

This week was a very busy one for Aughrim GAA. The busy week started on Tuesday evening in Pearse Park as our intermediates lined out against Ashford in the group stages of the championships.

A great performance by the lads saw them ease into a large half time lead and although Ashford pushed hard in the second half, Aughrim ran out winners on a score-line of 2-18 to 0-08. Next up on the busy schedule was the annual Aughrim GAA golf classic.

The event was held in Macreddin Golf Club on Saturday and was supported very well by the local community. A huge thank you to all the sponsors on the day as well as those who played.

For the full results of the competition see aughrimgaa.ie or Aughrim GAA’s Facebook page. Sunday saw Aughrim intermediates line out once again in the group stages of the intermediate championship. This time against neighbours and fellow Shamrocks team mates Ballymanus.

This encounter proved to be a much tighter affair with all the heavy hitting expected of a local derby. Aughrim powered through in the end to win on a score line of 1-10 to 0-08. This result means they are virtually certain of a quarter final place with still two matches to go.

The next championship match takes place this Friday night against Donard-Glen. Please check fixture list for time and venue.
