Hollywood Vintage Fashion Show
A spectacular Vintage Fashion Show, held on the Saturday the 19th of July in the Community Centre, Hollywood, Co Wicklow, to a packed house was the opening event for the Hollywood Fair 2014. It also launched the Hollywood Fair Pictorial Book along with presenting two Special Olympians who recently won Gold and Silver in Limerick.
The Hollywood Vintage Fashion Show was the brain child of Marie Tutty a director with the Fair, ‘My aim was to encourage and promote a greater emphasis on vintage fashion for this era and make it more accessible for people to get ideas for outfit and have some fun in the process’.
One of the highlights of the event was Gillian Burke the current Wicklow Rose, who presented Ann Nolan silver medallist and Padraig O’Reilly gold medallist with a token of appreciation for their wonderful achievements at the Special Olympics.
Officially launching the Hollywood Fair Garrett Corrigan, stated; ‘The fashion show was a very appropriate event to kick off the upcoming fair, he was delighted with the wonderful turn out and praised the work Marie and her committee had put into organising the show’.
Garrett also thanked Rosie O’Connor, Jim Clarke and Tomas Richardson for all their hard work in compiling the official pictorial book for the 2014 fair, which is a collection of black and white photographs of previous years.
Geraldine Golden of a ‘Touch of Fashion’ Naas. Put on a spectacular array of vintage clothing dating from the late 1800 to the pre 50’s. Geraldine personally accessorised all the outfits to suit the models, music and ambiance of the occasion.
The No-name club were first to the stage, displaying professionalism beyond their years. Encouraged by enthusiastic applause they oozed grace and sophistication as they glided effortlessly down the cat-walk. They also provided the entertainment for the interval which included solo performances and dancing.
Local ladies and gentlemen modelled a striking display of vintage outfits after the interval. Classic vintage chic and elegance wowed the audience, their hair and makeup also enhanced and complemented the era as they graced the cat-walk. Joanne Murphy who acted as hostess for the event introduced the twenty-three models and described their ensemble to perfection.
The evening was a tremendous success primarily due to the trojan efforts of all involved, to everyone who attended the show, the sponsors and Vintage Touch Fashion. We look forward to meeting you at the Hollywood King and Queen Competition in Poulaphouca House on the 2nd of August and the fabulous Hollywood Fair on the 13th to the 17th of August.
