Camogie Finals

Camogie: Donard Glen Under 13 and Senior team are both playing in county finals on Saturday 30th August in Pearse Park Arklow.

The under 13 play Carnew Emmets @ 12:30 and the Senior team play Knockananna @ 4pm. Please come along and support the girls

Death

The death took place last week of Eileen Butterfield, Rathsallagh. Eileen who was pre-deceased by her husband Eamonn is mourned by her Daughters Mary, Anne and Aileen, son Ed and sisters Maureen and Lil and many relatives and friends. Eileen’s funeral took place in Dunlavin on Tuesday August 26th 2014, may she rest in peace.

Sympathy

Sympathy is extended to Pat Gibbons and family on the death of Pat’s mother Margaret. Funeral took place in Kilkenny. May Margaret rest in peace.

Dunlavin Flower & Garden Club

The club will resume after the summer break on Wednesday September 10th  2014 at 8pm in the Jonathan Swift Hall. The topic will be “A talk on Monet’s Masterpiece at Giverny” by Brenda Dalaney.  This will be followed by the AGM. New Members always welcome.

St. Mary’s Rectory Repair Fund

Culture Bus

The culture bus will travel to Mount Congreve gardens in Waterford on Saturday August 30th 2014. The bus will depart Dunlavin at 10am and return at 7pm (approx) Enquiries to 0879693960.

Rose of Tralee

Last years Wicklow Rose Sarah Whelan has launched her illustrated book in memory of the event and it is on sale in Blessington Book shop.

Death

Sympathy is extended to the Sinnott Family, Crehelp on the death of  Bridget Sinnott. Bridget was predeceased by her brothers James and Eddie and is mourned by her nieces Kay and Marie, nephews Seamus, Dermot and Eamon. Bridget’s funeral took place to Hollywood Cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Courses

Flower Festival

The parish flower festival will take place on September 26th,27th and 28th 2014. Further details from the parish office at 045/401871. the event is open to individuals or organisations. The categories are as follows Advanced, Intermediate, Beginners, Novice, Schools, Novelty and Groups. Children (5-7 Years, 8-10 and 11 plus) Biscuit Tin Lids, Egg Cups or own design. It is hoped the business’s will get involved by creating an arrangement. If anyone would like to sponsor an arrangement for a loved one please contact the parish office on 045/ 401871.

 New Running Club

We walk / jog or run Monday / Wednesday and Friday nights at 7pm outside St.Kevins School in Dunlavin. This club is completely free. People can just turn up on the night and join people either doing a “Couch to 5K” or walk, jog or run.

We are on Facebook under “Dunlavin Running Club.”

Community Text Alert

Community text alert has been launched in the Dunlavin area. Residents can sign up for €10. Forms are in Ed’s Veg shop. People are urged to be vigilant at all times and contact the Gardai if the spot anything suspicious in the area.

Library

Why not drop into the newly refurbished library in the Market House. Great selection of new books especially for children. Membership is free, free WI-Fi and internet access. The daily and local newspapers are available to read. Opening hours Tuesday 6.30pm-8.30pm, Wednesday  3pm-5pm, 6.30pm-8.30pm.Friday 10.30am-1pm and 3pm-5pm. Saturday 11am-1pm. Closed Saturdays of Bank Holiday weekends.

Jackpot

Bingo takes place in the Imaal Hall every Saturday night at 9pm.Jackpot waiting to be won now stands at €1600. The funds raised by the Bingo goes towards the upkeep of the Imaal Hall and well worth supporting.
