BURNABY VINTAGE DAY:  SUNDAY,  31 AUGUST 2014

Part of National Heritage Week.

NATIONAL HERITAGE WEEK:  23 to 31 AUGUST 2014

This year’s theme:  Family … generations exploring heritage together.

 

Families are encouraged,  young and old,  to get out and connect with the heritage that is ingrained in all of us.  For the older generation,  the week is an opportunity to share their experiences and knowledge of Ireland’s heritage with children and grandchildren,  in particular reflecting on the changes that have taken place over the years.

 

Over 100 events taking place in County Wicklow at 50 different venues.

Local events include:

 

          Delgany Guided Tour of Old Burial Ground & 13th century church ruins.

          Wild Newcastle Illustrated Talk.

          Rockpool Ramble at Greystones Beach.

          Historic Walking Tour of Delgany

          Burnaby Vintage Day

OUR WICKLOW HERITAGE

Our Wicklow Heritage is a new online community heritage archive for County Wicklow.

It is one of a growing network of such community archives in the country.

Wicklow has the privilege of being the FIRST community heritage archive in Ireland !!

 

The archive is an initiative of the Wicklow Heritage Forum.

Jointly co-ordinated by Wicklow County Council Heritage,  library,  archives + geneology.

It is a free,  open access web based resource.

 

Anyone with an interest in the heritage of County Wicklow,  no matter where they are in the world,  can read articles and share their stories and photos.

LUGNAQUILLA WICKLOW’S HIGHEST MOUNTAIN

SUMMER CLIMBS SCHEDULE

Lugnaquilla is the highest mountain outside of Kerry,  summit at 925 metres.

This challenging but accessible mountain is one of the best Wicklow Mountains walks.
