Fibromyalgia Awareness and Advocacy Ireland
West Wicklow woman Gemma Flood, now living in Carlow is about to fulfil a dream. Gemma has suffered from a condition called Fibromyalgia most of her life. She suffered extreme pain, fatigue and memory loss and it was not until 2008 she found her diagnosis.
Gemma spends her time, when she can, raising awareness for this insidious condition which has affected the lives of many. The booklet will contain true life stories of how sufferers are affected on a daily basis, stories from partners, siblings look on and feeling helpless.
Gemma states “that my main aim is to have Fibromyalgia put on the Long Term Illness List, we suffer from misunderstanding, we may look well but in fact we are very un well.” We receive no Government funding any resources we have to produce the booklet was raised by suffers and their supporters. It has taken over ten months to raise the moneys.”
Gemma would like to thank everyone who has supported her is her endeavours. The booklet will be launched in the Seven Oaks Hotel, Carlow on Friday 19th September at 8 p.m. Deputy Pat Deering will host the launch. Friends and family are welcome. Friendship Club
The friendship club has restarted every Friday at 3pm in the parish centre. New members welcome.
Culture Bus
The Culture Bus will travel to the Helix in Dublin for Madam Butterfly on Thursday October 23rd 2014. Bus will leave at 6pm sharp, show at 7.30pm. Show is only on for one night so please phone 0879693960 as soon as possible if you wish to travel.
Dunlavin Inn Golf Society
Dunlavin Inn Golf Society next outing is Captain’s Day in Naas on September 27th 2014 at 11.25 am.
Walking
Anyone wishing to join walking group meet at Imaal Hall on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9.30am.
Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning
Dunlavin will host a coffee morning on September 18th from 10am to 12 noon in the parish centre. All proceeds to the hospice foundation.
Arts Festival
Dunlavin Festival of Arts will hold an Annual General Meeting on Wednesday September 24th at 8pm in the Parish Centre. Anyone wishing to get involved in Festival 2015 is invited to come along.

Flower Festival
The parish flower festival will take place on September 26th,27th and 28th 2014. Further details from the parish office at 045/401871. the event is open to individuals or organisations. The categories are as follows Advanced, Intermediate, Beginners, Novice, Schools, Novelty and Groups. Children (5-7 Years, 8-10 and 11 plus) Biscuit Tin Lids, Egg Cups or own design. It is hoped the business’s will get involved by creating an arrangement. If anyone would like to sponsor an arrangement for a loved one please contact the parish office on 045/ 401871.
New Running Club
We walk / jog or run Monday / Wednesday and Friday nights at 7pm outside St.Kevins School in Dunlavin. This club is completely free. People can just turn up on the night and join people either doing a “Couch to 5K” or walk, jog or run.

Community Text Alert
Community text alert has been launched in the Dunlavin area. Residents can sign up for €10. Forms are in Ed’s Veg shop. People are urged to be vigilant at all times and contact the Gardai if the spot anything suspicious in the area.

Jackpot
Bingo takes place in the Imaal Hall every Saturday night at 9pm.Jackpot waiting to be won now stands at €1600. The funds raised by the Bingo goes towards the upkeep of the Imaal Hall and well worth supporting.
