Remembrance Mass
This years remembrance Mass will take place on November 11th at 8pm. The Mass will remember all family and friends who passed away during the year.

Songs of Praise
Local choirs and musicians will take part in an evening of music and entertainment in St. Nicholas of Myra Church Dunlavin on Sunday October 19th 2014. Special guests will be the Ballymore Brass and Reed band. Tickets will be on sale in the parish office soon.

CoderDojo
CoderDojo is an open source, volunteer led movement running free not for profit coding clubs (Dojos). At a Dojo, young people between the age of 7-15 years learn how to code, develop websites, apps, programmes and games. Are you interested in seeing a Dojo established in Dunlavin- whether you are interested as a parent of a participant, a mentor or someone who could assist with organisation and administration, please email billy.timmins@oir.ie

Dunlavin Flower Club
Dunlavin Flower will host a Halloween Demonstration by Daisy-A-Day on Wednesday October 8th at 8pm in the Jonathan Swift Hall. Tea and raffle of arrangements. Please come along and bring a friend.

Folk Group
The folk group have restarted after the summer break. They sing at 10am Mass on Sundays every two weeks. Singers and musicians welcome to join in. Contact Suzanne on 087/2977794.

Parent and Toddler Group
Dunlavin Community Playschool’s Parent & Toddler group meet every Wednesday from 10am-12noon in the Jonathan Swift Hall behind the playschool. Cost is €3 per adult. More details contact 045/406866.
Men’s Shed
The Dunlavin Men’s Shed is now open, and meeting every Tuesday from 10am-2pm in Murtagh’s.

Senior Citizen Christmas Party
Anyone willing to make puddings / trifles or brown bread for the senior citizen’s Christmas party on November 30th please contact Pauline in the parish office.
Text Alert
Dunlavin text alert will hold a cake sale after Mass on October 12th . It is hoped to get the community alert signs erected before the winter. Please support.

Westside Community Games
Westside Community Games will hold their AGM on October 7th 2014 in the GAA Grounds at 7.30pm. All welcome to attend.

Playground Opening
The committee of Dunlavin Playground Project are delighted to announce that the Official opening of the Playground, Muga Sensory Garden and Outdoor gym will take place on Sunday 5th October at 2pm.
This is a big day for Dunlavin and its hoped that all the community will come along to celebate this momentous occasion and try out this new amenity.

Over 120 entries were recieved for the naming competion. The name chosen for this new amenity is” The Green Hollow”.

The field was known as “The Hollow “in the past and the committe felt it was nice to keep that connection with the area.

The winner of the naming competion is Hazel Keogh, 6th class Scoil Nioclais Naofa, and she will officially open the Playground by cutting the ribbon on the day. Well done Hazel

Faulty Towers
The hilarious faulty towers show returns to Rahsallagh House on October 30th 2014 Dinner and show €55, contact Rathsallagh House for reservations.

Friendship Club
The friendship club has restarted every Friday at 3pm in the parish centre. New members welcome.

Culture Bus
The Culture Bus will travel to the Helix in Dublin for Madam Butterfly on Thursday October 23rd 2014. Bus will leave at 6pm sharp, show at 7.30pm. Show is only on for one night so please phone 0879693960 as soon as possible if you wish to travel.

Walking
Anyone wishing to join walking group meet at Imaal Hall on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9.30am.

New Running Club
We walk / jog or run Monday / Wednesday and Friday nights at 7pm outside St.Kevins School in Dunlavin. This club is completely free. People can just turn up on the night and join people either doing a “Couch to 5K” or walk, jog or run.
We are on Facebook under “Dunlavin Running Club.”

Community Text Alert
Community text alert has been launched in the Dunlavin area. Residents can sign up for €10. Forms are in Ed’s Veg shop. People are urged to be vigilant at all times and contact the Gardai if the spot anything suspicious in the area.

Library
Why not drop into the newly refurbished library in the Market House. Great selection of new books especially for children. Membership is free, free WI-Fi and internet access. The daily and local newspapers are available to read. Opening hours Tuesday 6.30pm-8.30pm, Wednesday 3pm-5pm, 6.30pm-8.30pm.Friday 10.30am-1pm and 3pm-5pm. Saturday 11am-1pm. Closed Saturdays of Bank Holiday weekends.

Jackpot
Bingo takes place in the Imaal Hall every Saturday night at 9pm.Jackpot waiting to be won now stands at €1600. The funds raised by the Bingo goes towards the upkeep of the Imaal Hall and well worth supporting.
