Once again a well managed and really enjoyable event.

U12 Girls
The U12 Div1 Girls were out in the Shield Semi-Final against St. Nicks on Thursday the 4th of September. The girls had their scoring boots on for this match and worked hard on the ball. St. Nicks broke through to Arklow’s defence a few times but AGB stood strong and let very little even close to their goalie. Final score AGB 4-9 St. Nick’s 0-

U14 Girls
AGB U14 girls were defeated in the B Championship away to Valleymount in a match that can only be described as a game of two halves on the 31st of August. The girls started very strongly and their all-round defensive work was very impressive. All players pressed very hard and gave their opposition no time on the ball, making them make mistakes and concede possession. AGB scored three goals in the 1st half and the pleasing thing for the coaches was that each goal was the product of an excellent work ethic throughout the team. AGB lead by 5 points at half time. In fairness to Valleymount they were a very different proposition in the 2nd half. After all AGBs hard work in the 1st half, the girls began to tire and the hot sunny conditions did not help. The girl’s effort could not be faulted and unfortunately they conceded two goals and five points in the second half to lose the game. The final score was AGB 3-1 Valleymount 2-9. The dressing room was strangely quiet for AGB after the match; the disappointment of the loss was very obvious. The coaching team, however, were very proud of the girls’ performance. There was very little between the two teams. The Shield is now to play for and no doubt, the girls will give it their best. Many thanks to all the parents and friends for their support, it is very much appreciated.

On the same day AGB U14 girls made a great start in the U14A Championship, coming out on top against St Nick’s in Dunlavin. Coming up against the Div 2 League winners AGB knew they couldn’t be complacent and never let the opposition into the match, dominating from start to finish. With great movement and teamwork on show the girls will look to bring this performance forward to the semi-final in 3 weeks time. Thanks to the drivers and supporters.
Our U14 squads then took a break from training on Thursday the 4th of September to try their hand at Fairway Football in Riverchapel . Groups of 5 or 6 headed out accompanied by a willing adult to TRY and keep score. A great time was had by all with some interesting shots on show. Congrats to Abbie O’Reilly on a hole-in-one, and Christina, Caoimhe, Maebh and Muireann who had the 4 best rounds from the 20 holes played. Thanks to Des who organised the evening and to all who gave their evening to drive and give lifts. Back to training on Tuesday the 9th as preparations for the next round of the championship begin.

U14 Boys
The U14 boys had a great start to their Championship with a win over St Kevin’s on the 3rd of September. Final score: AGB 3-6 St Kevin’s 2-8. Great work, keep it up boys!

U16 Boys
Well done to AGB U16 lads who beat Blessington in the championship on the 1st of September. Final score: AGB 4-11 Blessington 1-4.
Senior Ladies
The Senior Ladies took on Baltinglass in the County Final on September the 7th in Aughrim County Grounds. Battling against an early lead from Baltinglass for much of the first half, the AGB ladies slowly picked away the points and were within a point early in the second half. But Baltinglass were not going to let this County Final away from them without a fight. It was a hard fought second half for both teams but Baltinglass eventually gained the lead again and took home the title on a distraught AGB. Hard Luck Ladies.
