The Committee of Aughrim Tidy Towns would like to thank everybody that contributed to the success in achieving our gold medal in the recent National Tidy Towns Competition.  Thank you all for your continued support this year and in the future.

Pilates

Pilates classes will be starting Tuesday September 23rd.  Class will be at 5.15 & 6.30pm (Beginners and Improvers) 7.45pm (Advanced), Wednesday 10am (mixed level), Aughrim Sports Complex. 6 week course €60.   Please contact Thérese (087) 7731106 or email pilates@tmpilates.com

Active Retirement

Monday Coffee Mornings resume on Monday, September 15th at 10.30am. Why not come along for a chat and a cuppa? The proposed outing to Huntington Castle has been organised for Thursday Sept 25th.with lunch in The Forge.  Contact Anne 0876712004 or Margaret 0863982200.

Our next Spa Day will be on Tuesday, October 21st – cost is €60.  Have you booked your place?  Please have your fee in an envelope at our October meeting. During Positive Ageing Week – on Sunday, October 12th at 3pm – we will be having an afternoon of music and fun.  Watch this space for further details!!!
Our Christmas Party will again be in Brooklodge – by popular demand – on Thursday, December 11th – be sure to book your place.  Articles and any items of interest for the next Magazine should be forwarded as attachments to anneathornton@gmail.com in the coming weeks. 

At our October meeting we will be having a talk on Mindfulness which seems to be the ‘buzz word’ of the moment and will of great interest to us all.  If you want further info on any of these items you can phone Margaret at 0402-36660 or Anne at 0402-36944.

Dance and Drama classes

Dance and Drama classes with Elevation School of Performing Arts return with a bang this September in the Sports Complex. Classes will resuming on Thursday September 18th and Saturday September 20th also.

Classes available in Modern Jazz, Ballet and Speech and Drama for children from 3 yrs+ with opportunities for examinations and performances in all genres.  Contact Kate at elevationdance@gmail.com or on 086-825-6775.

Indoor Tennis

Continuing on from last season two very popular adult classes will run on Monday mornings from September 22nd. 9.30-10.30 & 10.30-11.30. Places limited to 8 people. Cost €50 for a 5 wk course. Suitable for all standards. Again text David Sheehan  to reserve a place. 0878166525

Culture Night

Celebration of Culture Night 2014 will take place in the CCE room in the old school on September 19th at 7.30pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Repair Cafe

What do you do with a chair when the leg has come loose? With a toaster that no longer works? Or a woollen jumper with moth holes? Have started to fix something and got stuck?  Toss it? No way!  You can repair it at the Repair Café!  Repair Cafés are free meeting places and they’re all about repairing things (together): clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, jewellery, toys etc. Come along on September 20th 10- 2. at the market in the Pavilion, Rednagh Road.  Reuse and repair.  Give it a second life!  FREE event, donations welcome

Vintage Tractor & Car Run

Aughrim Hall committee will hold a vintage tractor & car run and static show on Sunday September 28th starting in the Community Field, Rednagh Road, at 12 noon. Registration of vehicles from 11.30.  Sponsorship cards are now out seeking support for this event to raise funds for the upkeep of the Community hall.

Lotto

The numbers 5, 12, 20 and 24 were drawn in the Aughrim sports club lotto on Monday September 8th.  The jackpot was not won.  Match three winners were: Imelda Kinsella, Holly Byrne, Agnes, Max and Agnes Murray and Sheila Keogh.  The jackpot is €1200
Market

Aughrim Town & Country Market continues every Saturday morning, from 10am to 2pm. If you have, not visited before you will be pleasantly surprised, we have a butcher, some bakers, even a candlestick maker! With talented craftspeople providing woollens, jewellery, jams, preserves and prints. The Pavilion, Rednagh Road, on Saturday morning. For more information contact 0860865838.
