Households with wells won’t pay extra for water

Michelle McMullen of East Coast FM reports that households with private wells won’t be forced to pay additional water charges.
The confirmation from the Commission for Energy Regulation comes as Irish Water prepares to install meters in County Wicklow this month.
It’s expected that water will soon cost homes around half a cent per litre.

The CER has also agreed to consider streamlining the billing process for farmers.

According to farming organisation the IFA, the group is considering proposals to combine separate bills from local authorities for water used on farms and bill issued by Irish water for supplies used in homes into one all-inclusive charge.
