Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Michael Kinsella, Drummond who died during the week his remains were removed to Askamore on Saturday for 11am mass followed by burial in adjoining cemetery.


The Halloween Coffee Morning held in the Courthouse Arts Centre Tinahely on Friday 31st October was a resounding success raising in excess of €1,100. Proceeds to the upgrading of the Courthouse sound system. Thank you for your generous and valued support.

Carnew Camogie Club AGM

Our AGM will be held on Monday night, November 10 at 8.30pm in Kenny’s Pint Depot. The outgoing officers are: Chairperson, Sabrina Kavanagh; Vice-Chair, Mary O’Neill; Secretary, Paul Kelly; Asst. Sec., Mary Brennan; Treasurer, Yvonne Kelly; Registrar, Linda Wafer; PRO, Deirdre O’Flynn.

We’ve had a very successful year with the U13s, U14s and U16s playing in county finals, along with a great Feile na nGael campaign. In addition, U8s, U10s, and U12s show great promise for the club’s future.


On Sunday Nov 9 the walk is at Annagh Hill (grade B, 9km/2.5 hours approx), meeting in Tinahely Square at 11.00am.

Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear. Full walking schedule is on the Tinahely Website. We are holding our next committee meeting shortly so watch this space for details of more walks for November and December.


The Hope Cancer Support Centre would like to invite all those who have been touched by cancer (or other illnesses or loss) to join them at their annual Candle of Hope Ceremony on Friday 7th November in Enniscorthy Cathedral at 8pm. If you are unable to join them in the Cathedral you can still partake by lighting your own candle and listening to South East Radio who will broadcast the service live on air.

Join us for a special evening of music  and song  in St. Kevin’s Church Kilaveney, Tinahely  on Friday 28th November – 8p.m.   Performing artists will be newly formed singing group ‘Celtic Trinity’ – Denise Brennan, Avril O’Toole and Karen McGillycuddy,  with very special guest  Liam Lawton. Also featuring Denise Brennan’s ‘Voiceworks Childrens Choir’ and Lambert Sisters Harpists.   Proceeds shared by St. Kevin’s Church and  A Partnership with Africa. Tickets  €10  available from Murphy’s Butchers Shop Tinahely and Parish Pastoral Council Committee.  This is a concert not to be missed!  Thank you for your generous and valued support. 
The annual Tomacork cabaret will take place on Friday 14th November in the usual venue, all welcome.

Shillelagh Pony club celebrate their 50th anniversary celebrations in Murphy’s Hotel Tinahely on Saturday 8th November at 8pm sharp, all past and present members, parents and committee are invited to attend. The annual November Fair will be held on Friday 14th November, doors open at 7pm sharp admission free. Monster raffle book of 3 for €2, 1st prize €300., 2nd €200, 3rd €100, 4th hamper. Mini raffle, cake stall, bottle stall, Bric – a – brac, crafts, books and toys, Boutique second hand shop with lots of bargains. It promises to be an enjoyable night, your support would be greatly appreciated.
Carnew parish would like to thank everyone who supported and attended the annual bazaar on Friday 24th, your support is very much appreciated. The annual 45 card games resume in Askamore on Monday nights 3rd November is for Console/community alert, 10th Kiltilahane/Ballytarsna, 17th Askamore/Munny, 24th Ballyconran/Brideswell, 1st December Ballyellis/Burrow, 8th Castlewhite/Drummond, 15th Donishal/Bolinrush, tickets only 42 each or 3 for €5, your support is greatly apprecaited or if you can play 45 please come along.
The AGM of Askamore hall will take place on Thursday 13th November as many of the local community as possible are asked to please come along.
A live mouse race will be held on this Friday 7th November at 9pm in McCrea’s Bar Carnew with  music, come along for some fun and craic, all welcome. This is the last fundraiser in aid of Laura and Dinny, Ella and Neill and Yvonne and Vinny. Many thanks to all for there support to all couples.
Colaiste Bhride Carnew are holding their open evening on this Thursday 6th November from 6.30 – 8.00pm, all are welcome but particulary students of 5th and 6th class in National schools.
11 couples are busy preparing for the semi finals of Strictly Come Dacning which will be held on 15th November in The Ashdown Park Hotel Gorey at 8pm tickets €10 which allows entry and a vote for your couple, more votes can be bought on the night, tickets available from any of the couples Majella and Jimmy, Christine and Niall, Yvonne and Vinny, Maire and Seamus, AnneMarie and James, Laura and Dinny, Erica and John, Sue and Mick, Nuala and Kevin, Ella and Neill, Mary and Paul or Victor Young’s Main Street.

The minors won their semi final against Bray 1- 16, to 0-5 and play Glenealy in the final on 8th November in Arklow at 2pm.
14’s play their hurling semi final  against Bray at 12.30pm on this Saturday in Arklow. Best of luck to all.
