CARNEW HERITAGE CLUB AGM
Carnew Heritage club AGM will be held on this Tuesday 20th January at 9.15pm sharp in Kenny’s Corner House, new members welcome to come along.MODEL EXHIBITION
The 6th Annual Carnew Model Exhibition will take place in Coláiste Bhríde, Carnew on Sunday 8th February, 2014 between 11am and 5pm.
This year the proceeds will be divided between Coláiste Bhríde School, Mischief Makers Parent & Toddler Group, Chillax Youth Café and Carnew Chess & Draughts Club.
We are completely booked out this year with well over 75 exhibitors and traders from all parts of Ireland coming with exhibits ranging from Farm Dioramas and Construction Die-Cast Equipment to Dolls Houses. There will also be Model Boats and Model Aircraft with Model Railways and Model Engineering and a scaled model of the last rescue helicopter to operate out of Waterford.
An extra feature on the day will be a competition to test the skills of the younger people in operating remote control tractors.
Admission to the show will be €5 for adults and children are free. We would like to see a lot of local support for the show as it is for very worthy local causes and it is a great fun day out for all the family.

A Men’s Shed is a dedicated, friendly and welcoming meeting place where men come together and undertake a variety of mutually agreed activities. Men’s sheds are open to all men regardless of age, background or ability. It is a place where you can share you skills and knowledge with others, learn new skills and develop you old skills. New members are always welcome and can be assured that there is something of interest for everyone as the men have ownership of their Shed and projects and decide their own program of events.

The ‘Taking Control’ Workshop is about taking some time to focus on your own values, goals and wellness. It looks at practical ways to face life’s challenges, whilst maintaining, developing, and taking control of your physical and mental wellbeing.

(Grade B, 12-13km, 3 hours approx) meeting in Tinahely square at 10.30pm. On Sunday Feb 1 the walk is Church Mountain near Donard (Grade B, 12km, 3.5 hours approx) meeting in Tinahely Square at 10.30am. Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear. (Walk grades: A is the hardest and C is the easiest – depends on gradient and duration.) Congratulations to Padraig Doyle, Una Sinnott and Tommy McGing from Colaiste Bhride Carnew on winning in the BT Young Scientist Exhibition in Dublin last week, they received a trophy, €300 and a €1,000 each scholarship. They are 5th year students in Colaiste Bhride, well done to all.
Congratulations also to Grace Hennessy who won a display award for her junior section with “Have ipads facilitated inquiry based learning”.
