Camogie News
Donard Glen Camogie club cater for girls of all ages. We are currently recruiting for 2015. Underage training continues on Wednesday evenings.

Under 8 training in Imaal Hall from 6-7pm.

Training for 10-12 year olds in St Kevins Community college from 6-7pm and 12-14 year olds from 7-8pm. Club registration day takes place
in Donard Hall on Saturday February 7th from 10-11:30am.

Adult training starts on Wednesday February 7th. New members welcome.

Scoil Nicholas Naofa News
Many thanks for your support of the non-uniform day last Friday which raised just over €200. A cheque was presented to past pupil Thomas Whelan who will cycle from Dublin to Galway with UCD Science Society in aid of Crumlin Hospital.

Green Flag
The school will be inspected on February 11th for all the work carried out on the theme of water over the past years in our attempt to earn a third Green Flag. Geraldine Whyte deserves great credit for all the work she has done in this regard.

 

We are delighted to have Kate Bullman from Irish Therapy Dogs visiting Solas each Wednesday with her dog Brambles.
3rd and 4th class will start a block of hurling coaching with GAA coach, Paul Garrigan every Friday for the coming weeks.

Music Generation lessons for 2nd and 5th classes have resumed and will continue for the rest of the year. 2nd class get a general music lesson while 5th class follow a vocal programme.

A swimming class for children in special education takes place in the Curragh Military pool each Wednesday at 6pm. The Jumping Jelly Beans session welcomes families. The cost is €5.

An introduction to Hatha Yoga takes place on Wednesday January 27th from 7.30pm – 9pm in the school. Enquiries to Kate on 087-2762319

American Tea Party
As a church fundraiser an American Tea Party will take place on March 16th in the Imaal Hall. Tickets at €20 will be available from the parish office 045/401871

Spring/Summer Fashion Show
A fashion show in aid of St. Kevin’s Community College will take place on Wednesday March 25th 2014 in Rathsallagh House. Tickets are €10 and support would be appreciated.

Operation Transformation.
Registration is now taking place for operation transformation as a fundraiser for the Church. You can join in anytime. Registration fee of €10. We will be doing walks, indoor soccer, line dancing, marching, keep fit with Carmel Staunton and badminton and we hope to have our on run-a-muck on a smaller scale for adults and children. The Line Dancing takes place on Wednesdays in the Imaal Hall from 8-9pm, this will be followed by Indoor Soccer in the GAA Club on Thursday nights. School Enrolment
Applications are now being accepted for September 2015 in Scoil Nicholas Naofa. Forms must be returned by January 29th.

Social Badminton
Badminton for fun takes place every Thursday night in the Imaal Hall at 8.30pm. All welcome.

Olde Chair
Looking for a nice piece of furniture or some Bric-A-Brac why not drop into the newly opened shop The Olde Chair on Stephen’s Street, Dunlavin (beside Rose’s Cafe). Great bargains to be got.

Unislim
A Unislim class has commenced in the parish centre Dunlavin on Tuesday mornings 11am to 12 noon. A great opportunity to shed those unwanted pounds before Christmas.

Parent and Toddler Group
Dunlavin Community Playschool’s Parent & Toddler group meet every Wednesday from 10am-12noon in the Jonathan Swift Hall behind the playschool. Cost is €3 per adult. More details contact 045/406866.

Men’s Shed
They meet every Tuesday from 10am-2pm and Thursday nights 7.30pm to 9.30pm. in Murtagh’s. All welcome.

Friendship Club
The friendship club takes every Friday at 3pm in the parish centre. New members welcome.

Walking
Anyone wishing to join walking group meet at Imaal Hall on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9.30am.

Community Text Alert
Coming into the winter evenings people are asked to check in on elderly neighbours.
Community text alert has been launched in the Dunlavin area. Residents can sign up for €10. Forms are in Ed’s Veg shop. People are urged to be vigilant at all times and contact the Gardai if the spot anything suspicious in the area.

Library
Why not drop into the newly refurbished library in the Market House. Great selection of new books especially for children. Membership is free, free WI-Fi and internet access.The daily and local newspapers are available to read. Opening hours Tuesday 6.30pm-8.30pm, Wednesday 3pm-5pm, 6.30pm-8.30pm.Friday 10.30am-1pm and 3pm-5pm. Saturday 11am-1pm. Closed Saturdays of Bank Holiday weekends.

Jackpot
Bingo takes place in the Imaal Hall every Saturday night at 9pm. Jackpot waiting to be won now stands at €2000. The funds raised by the Bingo goes towards the upkeep of the Imaal Hall and well worth supporting.
