Fine Gael TD for Wicklow and Minister of State with special responsibility for the Office of Public Works (OPW) today (Wednesday, 7 January) welcomed the continued free access to all OPW heritage sites on the first Wednesday of every month.
This offer commences today (Wednesday, 7 January) and will continue throughout 2015. Further information and a full list of participating sites can be viewed on www.heritageireland.ie.
Speaking this morning Minister Harris stated: “I am delighted to announce that my office will continue to waive the entry fee to all OPW managed heritage sites on the first Wednesday of every month. This concession, which commenced in 2011, is aimed at encouraging visitors to take advantage of all the wonderful sites around the country. I am also very pleased to note that approximately 70,000 visitors from at home and abroad availed of this offer in 2014.
“I would like to encourage people to take this opportunity to visit OPW heritage sites right across the country, including those in Wicklow. I am confident this offer will continue to stimulate the growing interest in the nation’s, and indeed our county’s, rich and cultural heritage,” concluded Minster Harris.
