Kildare West Wicklow SPCA left sickened after puppy found roasted alive

The Kildare West Wicklow SPCA have been left shocked after a young puppy was found roasted alive near the Curragh Racecourse earlier this week.

The little ‘staffie’ was spotted in a distressed state by a jockey, who contacted the charity about the incident. Rescuers brought the dog to a vet, who told them that the dog had most likely been hog tired and roasted alive.

What was believed to be dirt was in fact the remians of what was used to tie the dog

Vets used special fluid to clean what they believed to be dirt off the dogs paws but it turned out to be soot from whatever was used to tie him over the fire.

They also said that his organs had been slowly cooked, which led to organ failure and he was also suffering from neurological damage to his brain from the heat of the fire. Despite their best efforts the puppy sadly passed away

The KWWSPCA have reported the sicking incident to Gardai but they believe the chances of finding those responsible are slim.

” The Gardai have been informed and will be investigating this dreadful crime. No doubt the perpetrators won’t be caught but people need to know what is going on in their locality and keep their pets safely inside.”

They are also appealing for members of the public who may have information about this crime to contact Gardai.

“To think any human could torture a little dog so cruelly. I wouldn’t even call them human – they are evil and depraved and I really hope they get the punishment they deserve.”
