On Monday night more than 300 people turned out for Operation Transformation Wicklow Town’s first weigh in & walk / run of 2015. The event which is organised by Wicklow Chamber of Commerce and Wicklow Local Sports Partnership is a great way to kick start the New Year.
Monday night saw the introduction of the group’s Team Leaders Glenda Conyard from Rathnew who brought most of ‘The Village’ with her and Josh McKenna from Wicklow who is known to most as the man who organised Taste of Wicklow Town, Sailfest 2014, the list goes on.
According to Mick Nolan who along with a team of volunteers who run the event the idea is simple ‘we want as many people as possible get moving, drop a few pounds and enjoy a healthier 2015’
The Wicklow group will continue to meet for the next 7 weeks, Mondays at 7.00pm in The Assembly Hall, Bachelors Walk, Wicklow Town for weigh in followed by a walk or a run for the more energetic, Thursday nights at 7.00pm also in The Assembly Hall when experts will give advice on areas such as nutrition, wellbeing, diet etc. & followed by a group walk / run. If that wasn’t enough the group will meet on Saturday mornings for a choice of walking, couch to 5k and or Circuit Training compliments of CrossFit Gym Wicklow. This all happens at 9.30am meeting at CrossFit Gym located at the Harbour in Wicklow Town.
