Thieves driving stolen car kill pensioner in Ferns

Gardai in Wexford are on the hunt for two criminals who killed a pensioner after leaving a service station without paying for fuel  in Ferns last night.

The incident took place at 10.30pm on Monday night.

After hitting the pensioner the two occupants of a Volvo S60 which had been stolen from the Wicklow town area fled across fields into a farmyard where they stole a Volkswagen Passett.

The pensioner who lost his life in the crash was named locally today as James Brennan (81) from the Cherry Orchard area of Enniscorthy.

It is understood Gardai in Arklow have obtained CCTV footage from a local service station in the town and the criminals are known to the Gardai.
