Active Retirement
On Tuesday, February 3rd we had our AGM at which Officers and Committee for the coming year were elected and an interesting program for the coming months was announced. Have you paid your €20 Membership Fee? If not, please do so as soon as possible. At our March meeting Brenda Barry, one of our members, will give a crafts demonstration by upcycling and recycling.
In April we will have a talk on Mindfulness and in May a talk on the restoration of Preban Cemetery. A three day break in White’s Hotel, Wexford is planned for end April/early May.Tai Chi classes continue on Tuesdays at 11am in the pavilion.
Ballycoog ICA Guild
Ballycoog ica will perform their award winning one act play ‘This marriage Business’ This is a comedy and you will laugh all the way through, this is back by popular demand, and will be in Ballycoog Hall on Friday 20th Feb at 8pm admission is €5 children free and this will include tea. The play is produced by Mary Graham, do hope you can come and join us.
Thrift Shop
The New to You thrift shop which funds the upkeep of the Disabled angling facility and general maintenance of the area was broken into last week and the entire stock of bags, belts shoes and clothing and jewellery was stolen. If you have any unwanted items in good condition that you would like to donate to restock the shop they would be very welcome. The shop is open 10 -1 and 2-4 Tuesday to Friday and 10-2 on Saturdays.
Whist Drive
There will be a Whist Drive in The Parochial Hall, Tinahely on Thursday February 12th starting at 8-30 pm.Library
Opening times for Aughrim Library are as follows; Tuesday 3-5 Wednesday 3-5 and 6-30 until 8-30 Friday 11 -1 and 3-5 Saturday 2-4. Internet and photocopying available. Membership free.
GAA
Training for our Senior and Junior footballers continues on Friday nights at 8 and Sunday morning at 9. A full attendance of all players is needed at both these sessions as Division 2 league will kick off at the end of the month.
Well done to John Keenan in his performance as referee in the All Ireland Club hurling semi-final between Kilmallock and Portaferry. Robert Lambert played a key role in Wicklow’s victory over Leitrim in Division 4 of the League last Sunday and was Wicklow People man of the match the previous week against Waterford. This is his second week to keep a clean sheet – well done Robert.
The boxers continue to train on Tuesdays and Saturdays in the Sports Complex in preparation for the fight night on March 7th. Some tickets for this event are still available from any Committee member or the boxers themselves.
Lotto
The numbers 3, 11, 12 and 22 were drawn in Sports club lotto on Monday February 2nd. Match three winner was: Joan McGuinness, Arklow The jackpot is €5400.
