At approx 12:30pm on Sunday 8th Feb the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team were tasked to come to the assistance of a hill walker who had suffered a knee injury in the Lough Firrib area.
The injury proved too painful to walk out unaided and he called for assistance giving an accurate grid reference for his location.
Rescue Base was established at Turlough Hill and a hasty party was dispatched to the walkers location. Mountain Rescue medics treated the casualty at the scene and a stretcher party evacuated him to Turlough Hill where he was met by his family and transported to further care. The incident was stood down at 15:15.
