Domincan Convent bring the Leinster Cross Country Shield home

Domincan Convent Intermediate Girls broke the 12 year winning streak of Dublin, to bring the Leinster Cross Country Shield home to  Wicklow. The winning team lead by Emma O’Brien who won the race, stormed to victory with and overall score of 29, the next team trailing way behind at 70 points was Muckross followed by Mullingar.

 

This team will represent their school at the National Schools Cross Country Championship in Clane on the 7th of March. Their Aim is to claim the National title, one which they have been working towards since September of this year. The girls all train with Inbhear Dee the local athletics club, their achievement is all the more outstanding when you consider that 5 of the girls where in the middle of their Junior Certificate Mock exams. After the race they had to hot foot it back to Wicklow to sit their Science exam.
