Death
The death has taken place after a long illness of Pat Whelan, late of Sallins, Tober and Ballylaffin, Dunlavin. Pat who is predeceased by his daughter Jeanette and sister Maureen Dennis is mourned by his wife Kathleen,(nee Healy) son Colm and his fiancée Anne Marie, granddaughter Lily, aunt Sr. Margaret, Mother-in Law Kathleen Healy, brothers James, Willie, Ger, Larry and Eddie sisters Lucy Mooney, Margaret Lynott, Breda Walsh, Majella O’ Malley and Colette Byrne , brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. Pat was a gentleman in every sense of the word and a true pillar of any community in which he was involved..

As a Dunlavin man he was deeply involved in the GAA and was also to the forefront of the Arts Festival while he lived in the area. Pat’s efforts in rebuilding and renovating the Imaal Hall were immense and his hard work will always be remembered by the people of Dunlavin. Pat’s funeral Mass took place in the Church of Our Lady and St David in Naas on Saturday February 21st 2015, followed by burial in Dunlavin Cemetery. May Pat rest in peace.

Dunlavin Inn Golf Society

The next outing of the Dunlavin Inn Golf society is March 14th 2015 in Tulfarris. Tee off at 10.15am. New Members.

Jonathan Swift Celebrations
The Jonathan Swift School will celebrate it’s 25th Birthday with a social night in Rathsallagh House on March 13th. 2015. Tickets available from the school.

Congratulations
Congratulations to Niall Burke on being accepted into the Nova Scotia Barristers Society in Canada, Niall is the son of Liam and Margaret Burke and a former student of St. Kevin’s Community College.

Death
The death has occurred of Seán Metcalfe, Crehelp, Dunlavin, Wicklow. Sean is mourned by his wife Eileen and children Margaret, John, Tadgh, Maura, Tom, Joe, Anthony and Padraig, brother Tommy, sisters Mary, Bernie and Celest, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends .Sean’s funeral Mass took place in Dunlavin on Sunday February 21st at 12noon 2015 and burial took place in Donard Cemetery. May Seán Rest in Peace.

Catering Support
If you are interested in a career in the catering industry there will be a catering course commencing in the Education Centre in Blessington in February. The course will be run 3 days a week until June. It will feature Guest speakers, site visits and work placement, plus use of catering equipment competently and safely, customer care and development of food service skills. “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”
Scoil Nioclais Naofa’s Parents Association are hosting the Girls Night out in Dunlavin GAA Club on February 20th 2015 at 8pm. This is a fun night which includes a welcome reception, Buy & Design Fashion Show, Fashion Stalls, Free Hair and Beauty Treatments and entertainment from Sister Act. Tickets € 20 available from the School office or committee members.

Trip to Lourdes
It is hoped to organise a parish trip to Lourdes later this year. Anyone interested should contact the parish office. 045/401871

American Tea Party
As a church fundraiser an American Tea Party will take place on March 16th in the Imaal Hall. Tickets at €20 will be available from the parish office 045/401871

Spring/Summer Fashion Show
A fashion show in aid of St. Kevin’s Community College will take place on Wednesday March 25th 2014 in Rathsallagh House. Tickets are €10 and support would be appreciated.
Social Badminton
Badminton for fun takes place every Thursday night in the Imaal Hall at 8.30pm. All welcome.

Unislim
A Unislim class has commenced in the parish centre Dunlavin on Tuesday mornings 11am to 12 noon. A great opportunity to shed those unwanted pounds before Christmas.

Parent and Toddler Group
Dunlavin Community Playschool’s Parent & Toddler group meet every Wednesday from 10am-12noon in the Jonathan Swift Hall behind the playschool. Cost is €3 per adult. More details contact 045/406866.

Men’s Shed
They meet every Tuesday from 10am-2pm and Thursday nights 7.30pm to 9.30pm. in Murtagh’s. If anyone has tools or timber that they could donate to the shed it would be greatly appreciated. All welcome.

Friendship Club
The friendship club takes every Friday at 3pm in the parish centre. New members welcome.

Walking
Anyone wishing to join walking group meet at Imaal Hall on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9.30am.

Community Text Alert
Coming into the winter evenings people are asked to check in on elderly neighbours.
Community text alert has been launched in the Dunlavin area. Residents can sign up for €10. Forms are in Ed’s Veg shop. People are urged to be vigilant at all times and contact the Gardai if the spot anything suspicious in the area.

Library
Why not drop into the newly refurbished library in the Market House. Great selection of new books especially for children. Membership is free, free WI-Fi and internet access.The daily and local newspapers are available to read. Jackpot
Bingo takes place in the Imaal Hall every Saturday night at 9pm. Jackpot waiting to be won now stands at €2000. The funds raised by the Bingo goes towards the upkeep of the Imaal Hall and well worth supporting.
