Gardai in Greystones believe the man who was shot in the town last night may have been a case of mistaken identity.
The man who has been named locally as Rupert Stanley was shot after two men called to his home in Redford Park on Monday night.
Speaking on East Coast FM today Garda Declan Lynch said “The gardai are doing door to door inquiries and Mr.Stanley has had been operated on in St.Vincent’s hospital, we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything in the area last night.” “The investigation is at an early stage but we cannot rule out mistaken identity.”
A garda forensic examination is still taking place.
