Vote for change – was the message coming the Sinn Féin council team upon John Brady being selected as the Sinn Fein candidate for Wicklow/East Carlow.
The Wicklow Sinn Féin team on Wicklow County Council has collectively congratulated their colleague John Brady on securing the party candidacy for the upcoming general elections, saying if elected, he will make an excellent TD for the citizens of Wicklow/East Carlow.
The Sinn Féin Councillor for the Greystones electoral area Nicola Lawless said “As a newly elected Sinn Féin councillor I was very proud to chair the convention and oversee the proceedings were John was unanimously endorsed by the entire party across the constituency. The fact John’s name was the only name to be nominated speaks volumes of his calibre and the regard he’s held by his fellow party members. John has been a councillor now for nearly 11 years and has a wealth of knowledge and experience and I believe that’s exactly what’s needed in our TD’s. I look forward to working in the forthcoming campaign to ensure the people of Wicklow get the representation in the Dáil that they need but the only way change will happen is if people vote for it.”
Speaking after the convention on Monday Cllr John Snell said “I fully endorse John Brady and believe we have chosen a strong candidate and I look forward to the prospect of Sinn Féin taking a seat in next general election”
Cllr Oliver O’Brien went onto say “The people of Wicklow need a Republican TD to represent them in the Dáil, to ensure the children are all cherished equally. The Government parties of Fine Gael and Labour have failed the people of Wicklow/East Carlow. We don’t need anymore failed austerity politics, we need someone who will put the concerns of citizens ahead of vested interests. We need someone who shares the vision of the men and women of 1916 had and will work towards the Republic they declared during Easter week, nearly 100 years ago. I have the confidence that John has that vision, determination and passion to deliver for the people of Wicklow and build a true Republic.”
Arklow Sinn Féin Councillor Mary McDonald said “Wicklow needs a TD that will represent the entire constituency, not just one area of it. Unfortunately Arklow has been represented poorly by successive TDs and Governments over many years. I know John understands the needs of the people of Arklow and is committed to representing them at the highest level if he is successful in the upcoming elections and I have every faith he will. I know a vote for John will be a vote for Arklow and South Wicklow, it will also be a vote to ensure Arklow has a voice at the highest level.”
“I’ve known John for the last 25 years and I know the commitment he has and the energy he will bring to the campaign. He enjoys the full support of the party in every corner of the County. We will run a unified and strong campaign that will see every highway and byway of the County travelled to ensure the message of our candidate John Brady is heard. John is an excellent candidate and I’m very proud of the fact he’s our candidate and with the support of the people of Wicklow he will be a TD who will go to the Dáil and join the Sinn Féin team there” concluded Councillor Gerry O’Neill from the Baltinglass electoral area
