Clara Ladies 3-10
AGB 2 hosted Clara ladies in the second round of the Combined Cup at Pearses’ Park on Sunday March 15th 2015. This was a very entertaining game in chilly but dry conditions in which both sides worked hard for their respective sides. Naoise Baker and Heather Cullen were in fine form for Clara and Claire Murray and Kayleigh Carter for AGB had their work cut out to contain these two. Sarah Kendrick was in her usual high gear; she scored 1-2 for AGB as they dominated the opening half. Lisa Keegan had a very strong game in the half forward line and added a second goal for the home side. Points from Chloe O’Reilly and Róisín O’Reilly completed the AGB tally of 2-4 for the half. Clara, having worked determinedly throughout, trailed by 5 at the interval on a score line of 2-4 to 0-5.
The second half was slow to ignite as both sides battled away. This half belonged to the visiting side as they managed to score 3-5 for the half and AGB 2 could only manage to put a further three points on the board despite some valiant attempts. Newcomers Zoe Takacs, Emma Ryan, Medbh O’Connor and Angelika Pyciak shone for AGB and demonstrated the way to battle for a place in a large squad of players. Heather Cullen was super for Clara and her opposite Kayleigh Carter was best for AGB on the day. Well done to all for a very enjoyable game of football.
