The Fight Night last Saturday in the Arklow Bay Hotel was a resounding success for all concerned. The boxers of Aughrim and Knockananna put on a series of top class contests before a packed arena.

Organiser Barry O’Toole stated that it was the best attended and supported boxing event that he had been involved in this year.  The Club would like to thank the organising committee led by Suzie O’Brien for all the hard work necessary to ensure this event was a success.

The boxers that took part on the night – Pat Bracken, Lorcan Kavanagh, Danny O’Hare, Jack Byrne, Noel Browne, John Browne, Megan Keegan, Eoin O’Loughlin, Billy Byrne, Liam Keenan And Derek Kavanagh deserve a huge thank you from all club members for the dedication and commitment up to the final round. To Liam Doyle and Catherine Keogh commiserations as they did not get to fight on the night despite having given the same level of commitment as everybody else.

Thanks to Chris Kavanagh, Colm O’Neill and in particular Pa Byrne for preparing the boxers for this event. Pa attended every training session and assisted and coached each individual boxer for their fight. We lost out on a final score of 6 bouts to 5 and we would like to congratulate Knockananna.
This was the most successful fund raiser in the Clubs history and we would like to thank all our sponsors and the whole community for supporting us in this event.  Our Senior footballers have their first league outing of the year against An Tochar away next Friday night March 13th. Our first round Senior football championship match against Annacurra has been fixed for Sunday April 19th.

Aughrim Business Association

Aughrim Business Association is currently making plans for this year’s St Patrick day parade and has been contacting people who have been supporting the parade since it was rejuvenated a few years ago. The organising committee are hopeful that 2015 will again see an increase in the number of Floats, Marching Groups and Associations taking part and to this end they are appealing to any one that has not been involved before to do so this year. Registration is necessary so that the committee can plan the layout and format the parade will take and participants can do this by getting their registration form from Neil in Aughrim Pharmacy 0867334751 and Ari at Van der Wel Garden Centre 0879202751 or any committee member. As in other years the Parade takes place immediately after 10.30 Mass.
