Trish’s Tractor/Vintage Car Run
This event is an annual event which we run as part of The Relay for Life Carlow in conjunction with the Irish Cancer Society and in loving memory of the late Trish Bowes. It will take place on Sunday the 29th March @ 1.30 pm. The Run will be starting in Hacketstown – Clonmore – Rathvilly and then back to Hacketstown for Refreshments in the Community Hall afterwards. Please give generously on the day!

South Wicklow Drama Festival, 2015
Kilrush Drama Group will host the 11th South Wicklow Drama Festival in St. Brigid’s Hall Carnew from the 19th to the 27th of March next.
2015 Line Up
The line up for the 2015 South Wicklow Drama Festival again promises a fantastic week for Theatre lovers and taking part in the Festival will be many local groups along with groups from Counties Cork and Armagh.
The line up of plays for the Festival are: The Seafarer by Conor McPherson and performed by Wexford Drama Group; There Goes the Bride by Ray Cooney & John Chapman and performed by Ballycogley Players; Tea in a China Cup by Christina Reid and performed by Lislea Dramatic Players; Stolen Child by Barbara ni Chaoimh & Yvonne Quinn and performed by Bunclody/Kilmyshall Drama Group; The Kings of the Kilburn High Road by Jimmy Murphy and performed by Kilmuckridge Drama Group; Moll by John B. Keane and performed by Craanford Drama Group; Pygmalion by GB Shaw and performed by Bridge Drama; Momologues by Lisa Rafferty, Stephanie Cloutier & Sheila Eppolito and performed by Take 5 Drama Group and Dancing at Lughnasa by Brian Friel and performed by Yellow Moon Theatre Company.
ADJUDICATOR FOR 2015 FESTIVAL
The Adjudicator for this year’s festival is Donal Courtney who graduated from The Gaiety School of Acting in 1991. Donal has been working as an actor and a tutor for almost 25 years. In this time he has performed in over 30 Stage Productions as well on Television. He has directed more than 20 plays and written three plays. Donal is highly regarded within the acting community having taught and mentored the Oscar nominated actor Michael Fassbender when he was a teenager in Killarney. More recently, his one man play ‘God has no Country’ – The story of Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty – has been published as part of New English Junior cycle and was performed at theatre’s around the country.
PATRON TICKETS
Admission nightly to any of the Festival plays is: €10.00 for Adults and €5.00 for Students.
Patron tickets will also be available from any of the committee at a cost of just €35.00 which will cover all nine nights of the Festival. Admission for Students is just €5.00 with a max payment of €20.00 to cover all nine nights. This will be organized on a loyalty card basis.Patron Tickets are also available from Candy’s Carnew, Carnew Training & Development Centre and from Mrs. Kennedy, Main Street, Carnew. All performances commence at 8pm in the newly refurbished St. Brigid’s Hall Carnew with the exception of the last performance on Friday the 27th of March, which commences at 7.30 pm.
TINAHELY WALKING CLUB
On Sunday March 22 the walk is at Avoca. (Grade B, 17km, 4.5 hours) meeting in Tinahely Square at 10.00am (or Avoca car park at 10.30). On Sunday March 29 the walk is in Tonelagee. (Grade A, 15km, 4 hours) meeting in Tinahely Square at 10.00am. Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear. (Walk grades: A is the hardest and C is the easiest – depends on gradient and duration.) Full walking schedule is on the Tinahely Website.

Friday 27th March is Daffodil Day. You can be part of this Daffodil Day appeal by joining us for a Coffee Morning in the Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely, on Friday 27th March 10 a.m – 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

FIRST RESPONDERS
Carnew First Responders are holding their sponsored walk on Monday 30th March at 6.30pm from Colaiste Bhride Carnew to the sportsfield for an egg hunt, Mickey and Minnie Mouse and baby mouse will be there, all children and parents welcome, all support welcome. This year we are celebrating 10 years on 18th April and we would like to thank everyone who has helped us and done cover in that time.

Little Acorns Carnew Community Playschool and afterschool will hold their Registration night on Tuesday 24th March from 7 – 8pm in the playschool.
AFTER SCHOOL SERVICELittle Acorns Afterschool service runs from Monday to Thursday , children are collected from both National Schools and kept until 6pm, homework is completed before snacks and games . Children who finish at 1.40/1.50pm can be collected and kept until school finishes at 2.40/2.50pm for a small fee. This would mean only one school run needed for families.
