The Rathnew – Arklow stretch of the M11 is just months from completion-Winters

Councillor Irene Winters says “The Rathnew – Arklow stretch of the M11 is just months from completion and along with the economic benefits, our new Motorway will help reduce road deaths.

For too long families have mourned the deaths of loved ones killed due to tragic road accidents along this notorious stretch of the N11. The Ballinameesda bends will no longer be part of the M11 and work which is progressing well, should be finished by the end of August 2015 (3 months ahead of schedule).

Below are some shots of the progress at a few well known locations along the route – The Beehive, Lil Doyles, Jack Whites and Scratenagh Cross (referred to by AA Roadwatch every morning for the last few months).

The project is a milestone for Ireland’s economic recovery. When the government took up office in 2011, Ireland’s budget deficit was one of the widest in the world, greater than that of many ‘failed states’ in the developing world. However, this Government took control of the crisis, and has brought our deficit under control.

That work was key to securing project funding back in 2013. It was the first Public Private Partnership (PPP) signed in 6 years and was recognition that Ireland’s international reputation had been restored.”
