Wicklow GAA Garden County Academy football notes March 9

Under 13:
Players were given a sponsorship card for the upcoming 5K run on the 11th April 2015.  Parents, players and supporters are asked to support this event.  March is a busy month for the U13’s with Training on Saturdays, the  21st and 28th.  All clubs are reminded that this age group is open to all boys born in 2002 (only).  There is no selection process.  Management and Coaches are looking forward to seeing the numbers increase over the coming weeks.  Finally for any coach out there interested in helping with the U13 GCA squad, please contact Eoin on 0868282033.

Our under 14s had a good workout Saturday morning ,with 31 boys in attendance .The boys worked hard during their game based drills and then brought that forward into a full game to finish up the session . We ask all clubs to send any of their players born (2001)who are interested in attending as there is no selection process at the moment . There will be no U14 squad training this coming Saturday 14th as Feile matches are scheduled for that dayaround the county .Training will resume on Saturday21st at the usual time of 10-30
Under 15:
Our U15 GCA squad had their first of 3 planned fitness tests last Saturday in Ballinakill. The first part was carried out indoors where the lads completed flexibility, strength and power tests, before moving outside for an energy sapping shuttle run test. A big thanks to Gary Jameson and his team for putting the lads through their paces and well done to the lads who gave it their all and pushed themselves to the limit. Individual S & C programs will be given out to the players at next week’s session.
Under 16:
Last Saturday we had 25 players turn up at Balinakill with an additional 2 injured on the sideline. Conor Parsons our S&C Co-ordinator took the lads for half an hour after which both Kevin and Martin put the lads through their paces. On the match front we play our 2nd match next Saturday at 10.30am v Kilmacud Crokes. On the 28th March there will be another match pencilled in.
As always, keep up to date with all activity in the Academy on our social media platforms and on our website. We have a 5k fun run coming up on April 11th in Ballinakill and support would be greatly appreciated. This will be the main fundraiser for the year for the squads and is open to anyone who wants to take part.
