Fishermen winched to Safety

Wicklow RNLI Lifeboat was requested to launch at 2-35pm this afternoon (Wednesday 15 April) by the Coast Guard, after an emergency position radio beacon (EPIRB) activated from a vessel in distress off the Wicklow coast.
The emergency beacon from a small fishing vessel was transmitting approximately eight miles northeast of Wicklow harbour. The Coast Guard were unable to establish any communication with the boat or its crew.
Once on scene the lifeboat began a search with the Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 116. Weather conditions in the area were wind westerly, force 2-3. The sea state was slight with good visibility.

The volunteer lifeboat crew recovered the life raft and brought it ashore at Wicklow harbour.
The crew on the callout were Coxswain Tommy McAulay  Mechanic Brendan Copeland David O Leary Carol Flahive Dean Mulvihill Alan Goucher and David Collard.
