Murder investigation expected to be launched after discovery of missing woman’s body

Gardai in Wicklow town are expected to launch a murder investigation after the discovery of a woman’s body in a shed at Kiloughter, Ashford this afternoon.

The body was discovered by Gardai just after 1pm on Tuesday, it is understood the body was hidden under a taupaulin.

Forensic investigators arrived at the scene this evening and the area has been sealed off.

It is believed the woman did not die where the body has been found and another scene has been preserved north of Wicklow town.

This evening the body was removed to the mortuary at St Columcilles Hospital in Loughlinstown where a Post Mortem will be carried out tomorrow morning.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested and is being held in Wicklow Garda Station where he can be detained for 24 hours.
