St. Cronan’s boys qualify for the Credit Union National Quiz Final

St. Cronan’s School in Bray have qualified for the National Final of the Credit Union Quiz. The 6th class team had previously won the local final hosted by Shankill’s Core Credit Union in January.

The Credit Union quiz is national event, with an estimated 25,000 students taking part across all 32 counties of Ireland. There are three stages; Local, Regional and All-Ireland.

The regional final took place in St. Laurence’s College Loughlinstown on Friday 27th February. The St. Cronan’s team won with a massive score of 65 out of 72.

“We are exceptionally proud of the boys,” said teacher Tara Connelly. “They have really excelled in the last two quizzes, and it is a remarkable achievement to reach the national final.”

“The boys are really looking forward to taking part in the final,” said organising teacher Karl Ó Broin. “They are fantastic ambassadors for our school, and it has been quite a journey for them, and to have been winners of both the local and the regional finals.”

The All-Ireland Final will take place in the R.D.S. on Sunday 12th April, with R.T.E.’s Marty Whelan as quizmaster. It will feature the top 50 teams in each of two categories, under-11 and under-13.

The Annual All-Ireland Credit Union Schools Quiz has been one of the most popular and successful promotions undertaken by the credit union movement over the past number of years.

The quiz is all about encouraging learning and teamwork among primary school children.
