The Grand Hotel in Wicklow town hosted its now nearly annual event the” Viking extras open castings”

Once again thousands turned up from all corners of Ireland in hope of making the cut.

Gaya Cremers and Hayley Newton took the long journey from West Cork, Gaya told “I would give anything to be an extra, I love the show and to be part of it would be a dream come true.” the fact she lives so far away is not a problem as the Cork girl would move closer to Wicklow.

Padriag O’Conner came all the way from Limerick and James Donnellan made the journey from Galway in hope to make it as an extra.

Wicklow man Gerard Corkish who has been in every series of Vikings to date, was fitted with his new armour for series four yesterday. Ger told Wicklownews “Although it is fun it is very hard work with long days and we are like one big family but as with all families, we laugh, cry, argue and hug!!! love it!!!”

It is understood the new season’s could be filmed back to back with filming lasting as long as February.
