Well done to Ciara and Jade Shannon today at the Talent competition. Jade came fourth in her Solo U-13 Music and Ciara came First in her Solo U-16 Dance and she now goes on to Athlone to represent County Wicklow in the National Community Games Festival in August. Girls you were fantastic.!Athletics are back next Monday May 11th after a break on the bank holiday. We are practising hard now for the County Wicklow Athletic Track and Field Finals in Shillelagh on Saturday June 13th. It’s important all children attend every Monday so we can go through relay teams and learn to do baton changes correctly. There will also be trials for the hurdle races for U-10 and U-14 on Monday May 11th so we would ask any boys and girls that are u-10 and u-14 to arrive at 6.30pm to begin the trials at 6.45pm with Majella and Caoimhe..

A Golden Jubilee Celebration for Fr. Edward Barry will take place on Thursday May 28th. Mass in the Church of the Sacred Heart at 7.30 p.m. followed by Buffet in the Community Hall at 9.00 p.m. Tickets €10 are limited and are available from members of the Parish Council and Byrne’s Londis.Camogie
On Friday May 1st Aughrim Camogie U12 played their second blitz, thanks to our hosts Arklow Rocks. A great result for Aughrim U12 girls on Friday night.We travelled to Arklow, the first match against our hosts saw a strong start to the season, the Aughrim girls came out on top with 3 goals, Aughrim 3-0 to Arklow 0-0. The second match was a draw against the Carnew challenge, a strong defence from both sides saw no score, Aughrim 0-0 to Carnew 0-0.
A victory over Knockananna with a last minute shot over the bar by Casey Byrne saw the only score of the final match. Aughrim winning 0-1 to Knockananna 0-0. Well done girls you all played very well in all three matches.
The Aughrim Camogie Club will be entering a team of U12 / U14 girls into the Run the Rock challenge this year as a club fundraiser. Sponsorship cards and all information will be available from your coaches. Your support for this fundraiser would be most appreciated.
There will be a draw held at the club, a raffle of returned sponsorship cards. Once you return your sponsorship card, to your coach, you are in with a chance to win a Sports voucher, best of luck to everyone. Alzheimers Tea-Day
A tea-day in aid of ‘The Alzheimers Society of Ireland’ will take place on Thursday morning May 7th at 11.00 in Aughrim Sports Complex. This tea morning is to raise funds for vital Alzheimer services in the Wicklow area, all money raised will go directly towards services for people whose lives have been affected by Alzheimers and Dementia. Tea Day is a celebration of families and friends who are affected by Alzheimers and who are relying on our support, so come along and have some tea and maybe even a slice of cake!Vintage Tractor & Car Run
Wicklow vintage club will present a tractor and car run in Ballycoog on Sunday May 10th. It will start from the cross roads at 12 noon. Refreshments will be served and all proceeds are in aid of the community centre in Ballycoog. Come along and support this family day out.GAA

Congratulations to AIMAA Students from Cho’s Taekwon Do school Aughrim who participated & helped out in their own South East Traditional Championships. Students took home many medals & trophies, 1,2 &3 places, they were among many other AIMAA Schools from the surrounding areas Shillelagh, Carnew, Kilanerin, Tinahely, Arklow, Drogheda, Rathdrum & Wexford.. , Great day was had by all. Active Retirement
Monday Coffee Mornings have resumed – why not come along for a chat and a cuppa at 10.30am. Our visit to Rathgall takes place on Tuesday, May 19th, by car, meeting at the Pavilion at 10.30am. Lunch will be in Rathwood. The Dawn Chorus this year will take place on Sunday, May 24th at 8 am by the fishing lake. Why not along join us to greet the day with music and song. Breakfast afterwards in the Pavilion. On Tuesday, June 16th we will do a tour of Dalkey Castle, followed by lunch in Dalkey.
Run The Rock 11K Challenge 2015
Registration for ‘Run The Rock 11K Challenge 2015’ is now open on www.aughrimgaa.ie and on Run Ireland website. Run The Rock will start at 10.30am on Saturday June 6th outside Actons bar in The Brooklodge Hotel. It also finishes here. This fundraising event is organised by Aughrim GAA Club committee and was a great success over the last two years with great reviews. It is open to both walkers and runners. The first 3K is a formidable climb to the top of Cushbawn Mountain. From here on its downhill to lap the Sean Linehan Walk and then back up to the Brooklodge Hotel finishline for well earned refreshments. There is also a shorter 3.5K loop to cater for family’s and kids.Entry: Individual €20 online, Team of four €60 online, Individual On the day €25. Family 3.5k €10.
