Good news this morning following an incident during the World Pilot Gig Champions boat race around the Scilly Isles over the weekend.
Arklow rower Peter Kavanagh suffered a suspected cardiac arrest while taking part.
A helicopter from the Royal Naval Air Service was sent to St Mary’s at around half-past 6 on Saturday evening to transfer the Irish rower to the mainland hospital.
Speaking on East Coast FM’s Morning show Councillor Tommy Annesley told Declan Meehan that Peter was on the mend and the Kavanagh family were overwhelmed with the support not only from Arklow but the whole UK rowing community.
Arklow Rowing club manager Charlie Dayman spoke with Radio Scilly, hear the interview below .
