Dunlavin Tidy Towns
Our annual draw is commencing now and lines will be on sale in the coming weeks. We would urge you to support us by taking part in this draw which is our only fundraiser every year.

 

Sympathy
Sympathy is extended to Monica O’ Neill, Tober on the recent death of her mother Mary McCormick. Mary’s funeral took place in Suncroft, may she rest in peace.

 

Sympathy also to Orna and Brendan Doyle, Friar Hill on the recent death of Orna’s mother Mary Cunningham, Mary’s funeral took place in Dublin, may she rest in peace.

 

Set Dance Ceili
The annual Maureen Dennis Memorial Set Dance Ceili will take place on June 19th 2015 in the Imaal Hall . Dancing 9.30pm til late. Music by Syl and Liz. Proceeds to St. Brigid’s Hospice.

 

Craft Fair
The festival of arts annual craft fair will take place in The Imaal Hall on Sunday June 21st from 12noon until 6pm. Enquiries to 0879693960

 

WWHS Journal 2015: call for papers
We hope to publish the next West Wicklow Historical Society journal later in 2015. Co-editors Donal McDonnell and Chris Lawlor are currently accepting contributions for the forthcoming volume. Essays, articles, illustrations including drawings, maps and photographs will all be considered. Any material on the archaeological or historical past of west Wicklow and/or neighbouring areas of counties Dublin, Kildare and Carlow may be suitable for publication.

The deadline for submissions is the end of July and articles in past journals have varied from less than a thousand words to nearly ten thousand, so there is much scope for authors. Illustrations without accompanying articles may be published with a caption or a brief explanatory paragraph, and all illustrations are particularly welcome. Draw
St Nicholas Ladies GAA and Donard Glen Camogie club have teamed up to hold a bumper raffle on June 1st 2015.Prize fund €3,000 and tickets €20 from any club members.

 

Line Dancing
Line dancing takes place in the Imaal Hall every Wednesday night at 8pm. €6 per night.

 

Baltinglass and District Country Market

Trip to Lourdes
It is hoped to organise a parish trip to Lourdes for September 22nd 2015. Cost €729. Anyone interested should contact the parish office. 045/401871

 

Social Badminton
Badminton for fun takes place every Thursday night in the Imaal Hall at 8.30pm. All welcome.

 

Unislim
A Unislim class has commenced in the parish centre Dunlavin on Tuesday mornings 11am to 12 noon. A great opportunity to shed those unwanted pounds before Christmas.

 

Men’s Shed
They meet every Tuesday from 10am-2pm and Thursday nights 7.30pm to 9.30pm. in Murtagh’s. If anyone has tools or timber that they could donate to the shed it would be greatly appreciated. All welcome.

 

Friendship Club
The friendship club takes every Friday at 3pm in the parish centre. New members welcome.

 

Walking
Anyone wishing to join walking group meet at Imaal Hall on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9.30am.

 

Community Text Alert
Coming into the winter evenings people are asked to check in on elderly neighbours.
Community text alert has been launched in the Dunlavin area. Residents can sign up for €10. Forms are in Ed’s Veg shop. People are urged to be vigilant at all times and contact the Gardai if the spot anything suspicious in the area.

 

Library
Why not drop into the newly refurbished library in the Market House. Great selection of new books especially for children. Membership is free, free WI-Fi and internet access.The daily and local newspapers are available to read. Opening hours Tuesday 6.30pm-8.30pm, Wednesday 3pm-5pm, 6.30pm-8.30pm.Friday 10.30am-1pm and 3pm-5pm. Saturday 11am-1pm. Closed Saturdays of Bank Holiday weekends.

Jackpot
Bingo takes place in the Imaal Hall every Saturday night at 9pm. Jackpot waiting to be won now stands at €2000. The funds raised by the Bingo goes towards the upkeep of the Imaal Hall and well worth supporting.
