On Sunday July 19 the walk will be at Turlough Hill (Grade B, 16km, 4.5 hours) meeting in Tinahely Square at 10.00am or Visitor Centre car park at 10.45. On Sunday July 26 the walk will be at Croghanmoira (Grade B, 12km, 3 hours) meeting in Tinahely Square at 10.00am. Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food& drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear. Details of further July and August walks will be available shortly.

Come join our Two Exciting Summer Camps not to be missed. Venue: Carnew National School, Date: 27th- 31st July15, Age group: 4-12, Time: 9.30-12 (Art Camp) 12-2 (Activity Camp). Art in the morning (Stop Motion Animation, Sugar Craft, Design/Paint your own fairy door & lots more, with art competition on the last day). Activity camp in the afternoon (Introduction to Tae-Kwon-Do, circuit training & lots more). Demonstration & Competition on the last day, with medals & certs. The Summer Coffee Morning fundraiser in Tinahely on Friday 3rd July last, was a resounding success raising in excess of €2,000. A huge crowd gathered in the Courthouse Arts Centre on a beautiful July morning to lend their generous support to KARE promoting inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities. Tinahely Local Service opened in 2003. We appreciate your generosity and support.

2015 Show – Me and My Girl
The Society have a busy schedule for 2015 and of course the main event will be the 2015 Show the very popular “Me & My Girl”with music by Noel Gay and its original book and lyrics by Douglas Furber and L. Arthur Rose with such popular songs as The Lambeth Walk, Leaning on the Lamp Post and The Sun has put its Hat on.The Show will take place from Monday the 23rd – 28th November.

Auditions for Me and My Girl will be held on Monday July 20th in St. Brigid’s Hall, Carnew. For more information, contact Mandie on 087- 210 2878.

Stars in their Eyes
Carnew Musical Society will host Stars in their Eyes in St. Brigid’s Hall, Carnew on Friday the 25th of September, 2015. We would like to encourage all of the Local

Kilrush Drama Group
Kilrush Drama Group were represented by four members: Cathy Tighe, Mick Byrne, Maurice Ruth and PJ Arthur at a Garden Party in Aras an Uachtairain hosted by President Michael D. Higgins and his wife Mrs. Sabina Higgins. The garden party was attended by representatives from all of the Drama Groups around the country for what was a momentous occasion for all.

Our Day Out
Members of Kilrush Drama Group are now busy rehearsing for a Summer production which will be held in August, of Willy Russell’s O.ur Day Out. Auditions were held lately to cast the production and Director Mick Byrne was overwhelmed by the host of new young talent who came along to join the group. More details to follow.

2015 Ferns Pilgrimage to Lourdes Souvenir DVD
A wonderful souvenir DVD including video and photographs of the 2015 Ferns Pilgrimage to Lourdes is now available in Gorey at Myles Doyle’s Store, Main Street,Gorey and in Gorey Photo Centre. The DVD’s are also now available in Billy Doyle’s Shoe Shop,Enniscorthy and Wexford. The cost of a DVD is €20.00 and all proceeds will go towards sending an invalid to Lourdes next year.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Sinead O’Toole, Umrigar her family and relatives on the sudden death of her father Martin Murray, Graigecullen while on holidays.

Carnew Day Centre Boutique 4th anniversary sale will be on Tuesday 14th, Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th July from 11.30am – 3.30pm with 1,2,and 3 euro rails, great bargains for everyone, please come along.

The next draw is 20th July in The Lodge and the jackpot is 3,000, tickets are only 2 euros from any player or local shop.

Carnew Agricultural Society are holding their 70th show on this Saturday 18th July on lands by Derek and Margaret Stephens and Kinsella Estates starting at 11am with the usual classes of sheep, cattle, horses, indoor section for adults and juniors, junior talent competition and more, please come along and support this local show.

The annual patrons will take place this Sunday 19th July in Carnew and Tomacork, the usual field day will take place afterwards and donations are welcome for the cake stall, bottle and produce stall, they can be brought on the day or left into No 1 Coollattin Road, many thanks.

Congratulations to Don Hyland on receiving a Leinster Hall of Fame Award for hurling in Croke Park last Sunday.

Table quizzes will take place this week in Askamore for the Feile Le Cheile weekend with the final on Sunday 19th, a childrens disco will take place on Friday 17th 7-9pm in the park, a family fun night is on Wednesday 15th from 7pm, teams of four 5 euros, to enter contact Mick Dee 0868555821. car treasure hunt on Saturday 18th from 7pm at the Community Centre, cars 10 euros.

Carnew walking club hold their walks on every Thursday of the week at 8pm from Carnew Training and Development Centre, this week they are walking to the sports field to walk the new walking track, everyone is welcome as you walk at your own pace.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the Redmond families, relatives and friends on the death of Kathleen Redmond Dublin nee Brennan Fern Lodge who died recently and was buried in Tomacork.

Askamore vintage club are holding their annual vintage car and tractor run on Sunday 26th July at 12.30pm in aid of Friends of Local People with MS and Askamore Creche.

The Carnew Emmets under 14 girls and boys football club would like to say a sincere thank you to everyone who helped in anyway with the recent feile Peile competition hosted by Carnew with visiting teams from Ballinacourty Waterford and Tourlestrane Sligo. A huge community effort with people donating and working in the kitchen, field, parking, security, parade, BBQ, disco and presentation, all ensured the weekend was a great success and enjoyed by one and all. Well done to the boys and girls and their mentors who did so well in the competition with the girls getting to the quarter final and the boys to the semi final of the shield. A memorial weekend was had by all.
