The man who died in a accident at Kilcarney cross, Rathdangan on Monday morning has been named as Billy (William) Kavanagh from Rathdangan.
The close knit community has been shaken to its foundations by the tragic death of one of the areas most popular gentlemen.
His son Liam posted the following tribute . “Every little boy growing up has a HERO someone they look up to someone they aspire to be . His name is DADDY .”
The Village Pantry posted the following “There is a very deep sadness in The Village of Rathdangan today as our close knit community comes to term’s with The tragic loss of a great character Billy Kavanagh following a road accident this morning. Billy always had a word for everyone, always a smile on the face, a witty joke to share, a big wave when out walking or a flash of the lights when out in the car. …..its so hard to believe this great character has passed….Please God he is at peace and smiling once more. We send our deepest heartfelt condolences to Mag, Anne Marie, Liam, Edel and all Billies Extended Family and Friends. May you rest in Peace Billy you will be missed.”

Formerly of Ballinguile, Billy died on Monday morning following an accident. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Margaret, son Liam, daughter Ann-Marie, daughter-in-law Edel, brothers, sisters, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at his son Liam’s home in Rathdangan on Tuesday evening from 7pm with removal on Thursday morning to St. Mary’s Church, Killamoat for Requiem Mass at 11am, followed by Funeral to Cranareen Cemetery.
