Active Retirement

Active retirement committee meeting will be held on Friday August 28th in lawless’ hotel at 10 30 am. Our Sept meeting is on Tuesday September 1st when Tara Buckley will advise us on how to be fashionable on a budget. Please note that this meeting will take place at 11 am.
On Tuesday October 6th we will have an afternoon of song and dance to celebrate Positive Ageing Week.  We have lots of activities lined up for the autumn.  New members are very welcome.

Taekwon Do Classes

Classes start back on  Wednesday September 9th at 6.15pm for Juniors age 4-7yrs followed by 7-8pm class (8yrs &up).  Friday night class @ 7pm-8pm.  All classes are for beginners & advanced, children, adults & family members are welcome! Classes consists of Patterns, Bag workout, Full physical fitness, sparring( Hand & foot fighting controlled) Traditional Techniques , self defence, discipline, respect & much more, Why not try something NEW!   Juniors (4-7yrs) members go through a Stripe belt system, 8yrs & up its AIMAA colour belt curriculum system. There are many events throughout the year for students to compete in- Competitions, inter-school competitions (new), Displays & parent’s night, seminar under AIMAA Masters.  Lots of events to participate in. The Club would like to congratulate Sheila Keegan on her great win during her recent appearance on Winning Streak game show.  Our run in the Senior Football Championship came to an abrupt end last Sunday week when we were well beaten by a much stronger and more determined Kiltegan team. Next League match for our seniors is against Knockananna on Tuesday September 1st.  Our Junior footballers have drawn Lacken in the County semi -final of the Junior ‘C’ football championship. This game is due to be played early in September – in the meantime training continues every Wednesday for this group of players.  The Club would like to wish Bobby and Scott Newsome all the best as they return to Australia.

Estate Mass

A special mass will be celebrated on Friday August 28th at 7 pm at Croghan View Estate in Aughrim.   Residents of Our Lady’s Drive, Croghan View, Pinewood Grove, Chapel Lane Heights, The Belfry, Chapel Lane, Glen Road, Lourdes Crescent, Chuirt an Gleanna are invited to attend, as are all our parishioners.  This mass is being celebrated as part of the 125th Anniversary celebration for our parish.  Please note in the event of inclement weather, the mass will be postponed to Friday September 4th.

A wide selection of local artisan produce including home baking, farm fresh free range eggs, meat & vegetables, pates & frittatas, new season jams & chutneys and lots more. Why not drop in for a tasting and see for yourself. You will also find wonderful handcrafts & Aran knits, natural handmade soaps & beeswax candles and beautiful handmade jewellery. The numbers: 4, 10, 13 and 20 were drawn in the Sports club lotto on Monday August 17th.  Match three winner were: Gerry Doyle and Kevin Mann.  The jackpot is €3000.
