Rathdrum tidy towns fundraising events for August

Rathdrum Tidy Towns are hosting their annual fundraising events from 14th August to 16th August . On 14th there will be a pool tournament in the Corner House for any sharks who would like to try their hand.

On Saturday night at 8.30 all roads will lead to Jacobs for STARS IN THEIR EYES where our acts will be competing for the title of STARS IN THEIR EYES winner 2015. There will also be a cash prize and a trophy.

There is also a trophy to be won for Best Lookalike Act. Our Judges on the night will be local lads made good The Matthews Brothers so all will be trying to make the best impression. This promises to a very entertaining evening and there will be a special guest on the night. Admission €5.

On Sunday 16th the local ABBA tribute band take to the stage to entertain and there will be more variety performances on the night. Another fun evening guaranteed. Admission €5.

Kicking off these events on Wednesday 12th Avondale Camogie Club in conjunction with Rathdrum Alzheimer’s society will hold their annual 5k fun run/walk from Avon motors around the ‘Fish Pond’. Registration at Avon motors at 6.30 and race starts at 7.00.

Entry fee €10 without sponsor card. Refreshments afterwards and trophy giving by a special guest follows including the presentation of the Catherina Long & Danny Browne Memorial cups. Following this on Thursday 13th the Rathdrum Development Association’s Annual Fireworks Display will be held at the Parnell Memorial Park after dark.

Before this there will be music and dancing with Abhainn Dubh on the Market Square. This is always a very well supported event and we hope to see lots of people turn out to all the events as there is something there for everyone.
