Kilrush Drama Group Autumn Play – Unforgiven by John McDwyer
Congratulations to the Director, Mick Byrne and to the cast and crew of Unforgiven which was staged in Ballyroebuck Hall. The little hall rocked with the laughter of the audiences who packed the hall for each of the five nights last week for what was a most enjoyable night’s entertainment. Well done to all concerned.

The next project for the group is The Far Off Hills a wonderful comedy by Lennox Robinson which will be directed by Mick Byrne. This will be the group’s first ever entry in the All Ireland Open Section 2016, following their great win in the Confined All Ireland this year. The first performances of the play will be staged in St. Brigid’s Hall Carnew on Friday and Saturday the 19th and 20th of February, 2016.
Carnew Musical Society – Me and My Girl

Rehearsals are well underway for Carnew Musical Society’s production of Me & My Girl.
Me and my girl is a fantastic musical with music by Noel Gay and revised book by Stephen Fry. The musical is set in the late 1930s and tells the story of an unapologetically unrefined cockney gentleman Bill Snibson played by Bill Stafford who learns that he is the 14th Earl of Hareford. Bill’s cockney girlfriend Sally will be played by Ellie Condren and the action is set in Hampshire, Mayfair, and Lambeth.

The show under the musical direction of Lar Duffy, includes such wonderful musical numbers as: The Lambeth Walk, Leaning on the Lamp-post, The sun has got it’s hat on and of course the title song: Me and My Girl. The music will have audiences dancing in their seats and the cast are certainly being put through their paces at the moment by the energetic and lively dance routines set by choreographer Graham Finnerty.

Michael Dunbar will once again direct the production and the role of the Duchess is being played by Jennifer Byrne while Sir John is being played by Jimmy Spellacy. Lady Jacqueline and Gerard Bolingbroke are being played by Catherine Stafford and Gary Stephens respectively. In his 47th show with Carnew Musical Society, Sean Hallahan will play the role of Sir Jasper Tring. Lord and Lady Battersby are being played by Seamus Burnell and Joan Duignan, while The Pearly King and Queen are being played by John Duignan and Mary Doran, and the butler and cook are being played by Paul Doran and Mandie O’Keeffe. The newly recruited Family Solicitor, Parchester, will be played by Robert Donnelly.

We take this opportunity of congratulating our leading lady, Ellie Condren on her recent marriage to Robbie Willoughby and wish them every happiness in their future lives together.

The show will be staged in St. Brigid’s Hall Carnew from 23rd – 28th November next.
