Deputy Billy Timmins stated that the conditions experienced by many patients at St Vincent’s Hospital A and E are unacceptable. He pointed out that a couple of years ago assurances were given by the HSE and medical professionals that a reconfiguration of the service in North East Wicklow and South Dublin was the best way forward. This would involve a concentration of A and E services at St Vincent’s . Assurances were given that additional resources would be made available to St Vincent’s. Deputy Timmins questioned whether this has happened and expressed concern at the many complaints he has received from constituents about their experience in the emergency department. He is hoping to have an opportunity to raise the matter with the Minister for Health in the Dáil before its dissolution.
