A driver of a digger working on the flood relief project on the Dargle river in Bray had a lucky escape this evening.
The digger slipped on gravel and toppled into the water with the man inside while works were being carried out.
The driver managed to escape to safety and is unharmed.
Cllr John Brady said “It was a very unfortunate accident, thankfully the driver managed to get out safely”
Efforts were being made on Friday night to remove the digger from the river.
