Danielle Zaggl from county Wexford and Danielle Mitchell from county Meath have taken it upon themselves to organise an exclusive concert in Ireland of one of their favourite artists: Patricia Kelly, member of the Kelly Family.
Patricia currently performs a program called ‘Favourites’, in which not only the songs for her concert have been chosen by her fans, but she also gives her fans the opportunity to organise concerts in their own hometowns, usually in Germany or surrounding European countries.
The two Danielles have teamed up through Patricia’s official facebook page and decided to bring this special concept to Ireland. With tickets strictly limited to 200, this will be a unique soiree not to be passed up. The evening will begin with a young support act, the 13 year old Liona Wever-Mitchell, who will perform two songs before Patricia will take to the stage.
From the beginning the organisers opted to donate the proceeds to charity, and they have chosen the Friends Upfront breast cancer support group, which is part of Purple House Cancer Support in Bray. Patricia Kelly herself, who lives in Germany, is an ambassador of the German breast cancer charity.
The concert will take place on March 10th 2016 at 7pm (doors open 6pm) in the Arklow Bay Hotel, county Wicklow. Children younger than 6 have free entry.
Favourites: Patricia Kelly sings live songs chosen by her public
Singer/songwriter and bestseller author thanks her fans with a very special concept
After seven successful years as a solo artist, Patricia Kelly, member of the Kelly Family, decided it was time to thank her public for their longstanding loyalty – with a very special concept. Instead of putting together her own program, she let her fans decide which songs she will play; one of the most interactive ways of creating a concert.
Normally the influence of the audience is limited to the amount of songs played as an encore. And even that is already decided well in advance by most artists. And so it is even more unusual for Patricia Kelly to come up with the idea to leave it entirely up to her fans to decide the live program of a whole concert – concert planning version 2.0 one might call it.
That is how her new live program received the name ‘Favourites’, since it contains the favourite songs of her fans. On her official Facebook page she suggested a list of 40 songs from which her fans could chose their favourites – among which were her own compositions, traditional songs as well as some old classics of the Kelly Family. In the end the majority vote decided which songs will be sung live on stage.
“I simply wanted to give my audience something in return for all their support over the years,” explains the singer her motivation behind the idea. “At concerts, but also per email and facebook, fans often requested certain songs that never made it into the program of my concerts. The choice is always difficult. That’s why I now wanted to let my fans decide for a change.”
Even though the program was determined by the majority, the excellent singer promises some light variations from one concert to the next. That way the program stays lively. “And maybe I will secretly add one or two of my own favourites,” she adds with a wink.
